NFL-FFA Week 13 Report

By Colin Thompson
Key Week 13 Matchups
Boston Blazers defeated Brooklyn Comets
The name of the game is touchdowns and last week Boston Blazers dominated Brooklyn Comets in that respect. A 65-23 beat down improved the Blazers to 7-6 and into a tie with the Brooklyn Comets for 2nd in the Gibbs division. 7 total touchdowns were scored by the Blazers as compared to just 2 for the Comets. That simply will not get it done in this league especially this close to the playoffs. The Comets will need much more from Mark Sanchez down the stretch if they hope to be successful. Unfortunately even if he had played good in this one it wouldn’t have made a difference.

Augusta Gnats defeated Nevada Roadrunners
This matchup was back and forth all day long and with plenty of drama right down to the wire. The Nevada Roadrunners will rue the day they left Percy Harvin in the lineup with migraine headaches as he did not earn a point for his team. Another goose egg was drawn when Dwayne Bowe got completely shut down on Sunday and didn’t register one catch. Still the Roadrunners were in the game but of all people for the Augusta Gnats to explode it was little known RB Chris Ivory who got into the end zone twice and scored 15 big points to seal the victory for his team 39-38.

Week 14 Key Matchups
(8-5) Red Menace vs. (7-6) Boston Blazers
Red Menace is filled with explosive playmakers and they are going to need to perform their best this weekend in order to get by the hard charging Boston Blazers. A strong running game with Darren McFadden and Chris Johnson is complemented by some nice receivers. Calvin Johnson and DeSean Jackson lead this group but if Hakeem Nicks is ready to return from injury than that could be just the boost they need to win this one. The Blazers are going to need a repeat performance from last week where they had 7 total touchdowns, but they may be thinking twice about benching Cedric Benson again who had 2 himself last week.

(8-5) Roosters vs. (8-5) Waveriders
A Battle of division leaders takes place between the Roosters and Waveriders in a must win game. Roosters boast the hottest player in the league right now in WR Greg Jennings while the Waveriders counter with a hardnosed running game led by Michael Turner and Ray Rice, both of whom are beginning to hit their stride. Deion Branch has been hot of late and may be worth starting this week for the Waveriders but that would mean taking out Johnny Knox which they might not be prepared to do.

Key Mathcup Predictions
Red Menace defeats Boston Blazers – Too many explosive playmakers on the field for Red Menace, they should win handily.

Waveriders defeats Roosters – The running game will be the difference in this one and the Waveriders have by far the stronger backs.
