SCRUF- Week 14 Playoff Preview

By: Jesse Katz

It is that wonderful time of year and playoff time is here for SCRUF league. So far the league has been dominated by Killer B’s, as he has coasted his way to a 10-3 record and a bye in the first round of the playoffs. Sneaking in as the two seed is Rocky Mountain Oyster at 7-6. Using tiebreakers and earning himself a bye, things are looking goo for this managers. Lets take a look at predictions for this week’s playoff matchups:

#5 Pigskin Fethish vs #4 Springfield Flush
This looks to be an exciting playoff matchup as both these teams finished the regular season with 7-6 records. Thursday night served well for Springfield Flush, as Peyton Manning connected with Pierre Garcon multiples times as these two players went for a combined 44.3 points. Reggie Wayne also had a solid night for Fetish posting 14 points in his Thursday night performance. Looking towards Sunday Aaron Rodgers has a great matchup against the Detroit Lions. With that matchup, and some solid running back play from Ahmad Bradshaw and BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Fetish hopes he can snag a win and move on in the playoffs. However, this will not come easy, as Flush has a favorable matchup for Anquan Boldin, who goes up against the abysmal Houston pass defense. My perdition, Springfield Flush moves on after the stellar performance from Pierre Garcon.

#6 Springfield GMEN vs  #3 Devlin Magregor
Going into this first round matchup Sprinfield GMEN has a tough matchup against Magregor. Thursday night was a goof one for GMEN, as Chris Johnson had a big game, which will hopefully lead GMEN to victory. Magregor has a strong lineup this week, as he features some star players with great matchups. Tom Brady looks to stay hot, and Peyton Hillis has an awesome matchup against Buffalo. Also helping the cause should be Adrian Peterson, going up against the New York Giants. If GMEN is going to win this one, he needs his WRs to step it up this week, as Colston looks to stay hot, and Brandon Lloyd hopes to keep his breakout season on track. My prediction, Magregor rides his start studded lineup to fantasy glory with a win this week.

KFL- Playoff Preview Week 14

By: Jesse Katz

Week two of the fantasy playoffs is here and it is going to be yet another exciting week. Lets take a look at my predictions for this week

#4 Team 3rd and Goal vs #1 NE Deepthreat
This matchup looks like it is going to be a close one this week, as both teams have solid matchups, and star filled lineups. After Thursday night’s game, 3rd and Goal looks to have an advantage, as their kicker put up a big 13 points, and Deepthreats Blair White only came up with five. However, there is a lot of football to be played this week, as Deepthreat hopes that Josh Freeman will step it up and outscore Aaron Rodgers this week. Deepthreat looks to have good running back matchups, with LeSean McCoy against the Cowboys, and the red hot Knowshon Moreno in the team’s backfield. This game is guaranteed to be a close one, my prediction: Deepthreat pulls out a close victory on the back of his strong running back matchups.

#6 Dynasty 3D vs #2 Bruise Brothers- Dailey
After an upset in the first round of the fantasy playoffs, Dynasty 3D looks to come up with another upset, and move towards the fantasy championship. Come Sunday, 3D definitely has the advantage at quarterback, as he has Joe Flacco against Jon Kitna for Brothers.  Brothers hopes for a quiet day from Adrian Peterson, who is paired up with LaGarrette Blount in 3D’s backfield. In order to win brothers needs some big games from his receivers Hines Ward, Ochocinco, and Dwayne Bowe this week. Honestly, I don’t know how Brothers pulled out the #2 seed in this league, as 3D’s lineup looks to be a champion on paper. With that in mind, my prediction is yet another upset by the hands of 3D. Do not be surprised if this owner rides his star-studded lineup to fantasy glory as the last seed in the winners bracket. This team is dangerous, Look Out!

Ezy’s League Week 13 Report

Key Week 13 Matchups
Burny defeated Wolk
Burny knocked off Wolk 38-31 improving to 7-6 while Wolk fell to 7-5-1. Both teams are playoff bound after last week. Wolk drew blanks from 4 of their starters which wasn’t what they wanted to see heading into the postseason. On the other hand Burny got major contributions from the Colts QB and WR Anquan Boldin who combined for 20 points. Burny was able to score 2 more touchdowns than Wolk was able to put up so it was no surprise they were able to walk away with the victory here.

Ryan defeated Ezy
Ryan hammered Ezy 62-20 to move to 7-6 and ensure them of a playoff berth. 3 players reached double figures for Ryan, Green Bay’s QB, Cedric Benson and Greg Jennings had 45 points and 7 touchdowns between them. Most teams can’t keep up with that kind of electric scoring and Ezy was no exception. 5 players did not score a point for them and only kicker David Akers was able to reach double digits with 10. The scary part is that Ryan didn’t play tight end Antonio Gates which would have gotten them another 6 points.

Key Week 14 Matchups
Kotlarz vs. Wolk
Kotlarz comes in with the far superior running game with starters Adrian Peterson and Peyton Hillis and they will look to lean on those two superstars in order to pull out the win here. The tough part is going to be benching one of the leagues best at the position in Arian Foster. Wolk who lost Pierre Thomas and Joseph Addai to injury at RB has had some admirable replacements but their bread and butter lies in the receiving game. Jeremy Maclin and Roddy White are two of the best in the business and will have to be on their game this Sunday if they hope to pull out the win. The huge question becomes, what if Hakeem Nicks can play and who do you bench him for? The league leader in receptions in Roddy White or one of the most explosive players in the game in Maclin.

Burny vs. Ryan
The Colts QB and Pierre Garcon will be key for Burny to getting off to a good start. If they can set the tone then I like their chances this weekend. Fred Jackson has been so good for them the last few weeks but last weekend’s disappointing performance might find him on the bench in favor of Felix Jones. This however will be a decision that comes right down to game time. Just like Burny has the Colts combination, Ryan has the Green Bay combination with their QB and Greg Jennings. That lethal combination may be the best in the league at this point of the season. Cedric Benson is someone who they are going to have to consider playing just based on the fact that he was able to score twice last weekend and Tomlinson was not able to get much going.

Week 14 Predictions
Kotlarz defeats Wolk – The running game will be too much here as Kotlarz dominates

Ryan defeats Burny – The Packers combo will be better than the Colts combo.

BUFF League-Playoffs Preview

by Andrew Mishler

With the start of the first round of the playoffs, two teams will have a bye to await their first opponent. While of the first matchups may quickly go in one owner’s favor, the other game might not be so easy for either owner.

First Round Matchup Analysis: Polk High vs. Gone Fishin
With the first-round handicap in Gone Fishin’s court, he should have a huge advantage heading into this game. Chris Johnson is playing against an honestly pathetic Colts run defense, so he should have a big rebound game. In addition, Calvin Johnson and Kyle Orton should be no slumps either this week for Gone Fishin. Polk High will have to rely on a rebound game, this one coming from Peyton Manning. Matt Forte and LeSean McCoy will also have to pitch in a high number of points, as it will certainly be tough for Polk High to overcome Gone Fishin’s blue-chip players as well as his handicap advantage in this matchup.

First Round Matchup Analysis: Rusty Kuntz vs. Cock-A-Doodle-Damn
Rusty Kuntz will have the handicap in this game, and it looks like it might create a matchup that will come down to the wire. Cock-A-Doodle-Damn is starting Adrian Peterson, Michael Vick, and Antonio Gates this week, which should easily pile up a ton of points. However, Rusty Kuntz matches up well with him, using his own lineup of guys like Arian Foster, Michael Turner, and Greg Jennings. This game is obviously stacked with some great players, so the outcome is very hard to predict.

First Round Playoff Predictions

·         Gone Fishin defeats Polk High

·         Cock-A-Doodle-Damn defeats Rusty Kuntz

Week  15 Potential Matchups

·         Kickin’ Barts Ass vs. Gone Fishin

·         Motar Boatin’ Sons of Bitches vs. Cock-A-Doodle-Damn

NFL-FFA Week 13 Report

By Colin Thompson
Key Week 13 Matchups
Boston Blazers defeated Brooklyn Comets
The name of the game is touchdowns and last week Boston Blazers dominated Brooklyn Comets in that respect. A 65-23 beat down improved the Blazers to 7-6 and into a tie with the Brooklyn Comets for 2nd in the Gibbs division. 7 total touchdowns were scored by the Blazers as compared to just 2 for the Comets. That simply will not get it done in this league especially this close to the playoffs. The Comets will need much more from Mark Sanchez down the stretch if they hope to be successful. Unfortunately even if he had played good in this one it wouldn’t have made a difference.

Augusta Gnats defeated Nevada Roadrunners
This matchup was back and forth all day long and with plenty of drama right down to the wire. The Nevada Roadrunners will rue the day they left Percy Harvin in the lineup with migraine headaches as he did not earn a point for his team. Another goose egg was drawn when Dwayne Bowe got completely shut down on Sunday and didn’t register one catch. Still the Roadrunners were in the game but of all people for the Augusta Gnats to explode it was little known RB Chris Ivory who got into the end zone twice and scored 15 big points to seal the victory for his team 39-38.

Week 14 Key Matchups
(8-5) Red Menace vs. (7-6) Boston Blazers
Red Menace is filled with explosive playmakers and they are going to need to perform their best this weekend in order to get by the hard charging Boston Blazers. A strong running game with Darren McFadden and Chris Johnson is complemented by some nice receivers. Calvin Johnson and DeSean Jackson lead this group but if Hakeem Nicks is ready to return from injury than that could be just the boost they need to win this one. The Blazers are going to need a repeat performance from last week where they had 7 total touchdowns, but they may be thinking twice about benching Cedric Benson again who had 2 himself last week.

(8-5) Roosters vs. (8-5) Waveriders
A Battle of division leaders takes place between the Roosters and Waveriders in a must win game. Roosters boast the hottest player in the league right now in WR Greg Jennings while the Waveriders counter with a hardnosed running game led by Michael Turner and Ray Rice, both of whom are beginning to hit their stride. Deion Branch has been hot of late and may be worth starting this week for the Waveriders but that would mean taking out Johnny Knox which they might not be prepared to do.

Key Mathcup Predictions
Red Menace defeats Boston Blazers – Too many explosive playmakers on the field for Red Menace, they should win handily.

Waveriders defeats Roosters – The running game will be the difference in this one and the Waveriders have by far the stronger backs.
