City of Champs Week #10

By Colin Thompson

Playoffs are just around the corner for the City of Champs league and nobody has locked up a playoff spot yet. Oral division leader Big Ben’s Bathroom is the safest bet to secure a playoff spot as they sit at 7-3, 3 games clear of Team XXX who is on the outside looking in at 4-6. With the top 6 making the playoffs the next couple of weeks are going to be crucial for each team. The worst record in the league is held by 4 teams and all sit only 1 game back of a playoff berth. Testi Cool, Team XXX, Bayside Tigers and Air Force One all sit at 4-6 only one win away from changing their fortunes. Tig ManBitties leads the Anal division at 6-4 and Beach Bums also sits at 6-4. With one more victory they will almost assure themselves of securing a coveted playoff spot.

Despite being 4-6, Team XXX stands an excellent chance of knocking off division kingpin Big Ben’s Bathroom this week. If there is anyone that can storm into the playoffs that is currently out its Team XXX. Their team is loaded at each position with the likes of Arian Foster, Frank Gore, Roddy White and Antonio Gaates. With the 4-6 record it is going to be hard to finish in first place at the end of the regular season but a top 3 finish is not out of the realm of possibility for Team XXX as they might run the table the rest of the year.

Conversely Air Force One will need some big performances going forward from Randy Moss and Drew Brees as they have not performed up to their full potential yet this season. It’s unfortunate that they are in this position as a heartbreaking 109-108 defeat to Big Ben’s Bathroom last week dropped them to 4-6 and to the bottom of the Oral division. That was a huge swing game in the league as it gave Big Ben some separation and put Air Force One on the playoff bubble. Randy Moss’s 26 yards were certainly not enough from your star receiver and that pretty much cost this team the win.  This week they go up against the 5-5 Little Italy who is coming off a huge 147-105 victory last week against the Bayside Tigers. If Little Italy wins this matchup they stand an excellent chance of making the playoffs while Air Force One will remain 1 game back or fall 2 games behind the final playoff spot with only 2 weeks to go.

The bottom line for the City of Champs league is everyone is still alive and the parody in this league is crazy. This week is probably the most important week of the season as we might finally see some separation as we head towards the playoffs.
