Buff League Week #10

by Andrew Mishler

Deadlocks for the playoffs
Motor Boatin’ Sons of Bitches
First off, nice name. MBSoB doesn’t have the most dominant team on paper with players like Carson Palmer, Keiland Williams and Mike Williams (TB) currently in his starting lineup. But his team has railed this season for some close wins anyway, and with the league-leading record by two games, he’s virtually guaranteed one of the top spots in the playoffs.
Cock-A-Doodle-Damn
If this team get’s healthy, it could be the frontrunner in the playoffs for the championship even with a current 6-4 record. Cock-A-Doodle-Damn has the 2010 fantasy king at quarterback with Michael Vick, so he should automatically be considered a dangerous contender. To go along with that, he has Adrian Peterson, Antonio Gates, and in only one more week, he’ll have Vincent Jackson in the mix as well. In addition, Cock-A-Doodle Damn has a four game winning streak, making it hard to imagine that he won’t make strong run in the playoffs.
In the hunt
Xtreme2daMax!
Patience was the key with this team. As the season has progressed, players like Jamaal Charles, Dez Bryant and Shonn Greene have been given more and more opportunities on their teams, and it has obviously helped their fantasy production. Xtreme2daMax! has each of those players starting right now, and with continued improvement from each of them, he should start to see a few more wins. He already has a 6-4 record, so a playoff birth should be fairly easy to obtain for him.
Yellow Yellow Jackets
Even with a close loss in his last matchup, Yellow Yellow Jackets still has the makings of a good team with a nucleus of players like Tom Brady, Darren McFadden, Ray Rice, Jeremy Maclin and Reggie Wayne. McFadden only recently exploded onto the scene as a stud fantasy running back, so it’s natural to think that Yellow Yellow Jackets’ record will improve from his recent emergence. YYJ is 5-5 now, but don’t be surprised if he starts a winning streak soon.

On life support
The Nutty Nuggets
Even with great players like Hakeem Nicks, Brandon Lloyd and Steven Jackson on his team, the Nutty Nuggets just can’t make up for the poor play he has at running back. Having no real options besides Mike Tolbert and Danny Woodhead has led him to a 3-7 record, and it doesn’t look like it will be a hole that he’ll be able to climb out of at this point. Better luck next year for the Nutty Nuggets.
