NFL-FFA Week 10 Report

By Colin Thompson
Louisiana Lightning vs. Roosters

Roosters got a critical victory last Sunday defeating Louisiana Lightning 63-44 and moving to 6-4. They were boosted greatly by some late fireworks from receivers Mike Wallace and Mike Thomas who both caught late touchdowns and finished with 16 and 10 points respectively. For Louisiana Lightning they got some nice production from Brandon Lloyd (15 points) but they needed bigger performances from their key players. Tight end Jacob Tamme and RB Adrian Peterson only had 3 points combined which won’t get it done any week. Both teams now sit at 6-4 as they push towards the playoffs.

Outlaws vs. Augusta Gnats

The Outlaws were not able to amount much of anything against the Augusta Gnats losing 56-21. Nobody reached double figures for the Outlaws and only 2 players got more than 2 points. Meanwhile the Augusta Gnats had two huge games from QB Tom Brady and kicker Adam Vinatieri who combined for 31 points alone, which would have been enough to beat the Outlaws on their own. The Outlaws dropped to a disappointing 3-7 while the Augusta Gnats improved to 5-5.

Chrisnics vs. Lancaster Bombers

In an extremely tight contest the Lancaster Bombers knocked off Chrisnics 40-38 handing Chrisnics their 9th loss of the season. The Bombers improved to 6-4 and David Akers and Andre Johnson were the reasons why netting 23 points between them. Sitting Ricky Williams for Jason Snelling was an excellent call as it got them an extra 5 points which was just enough to win. Chrisnics must be disappointed in Randy Moss who had yet another terrible week. His 0 points just won’t cut it for a star of his caliber.

Stingrays vs. Nevada Roadrunners

Thank god for Michael Vick as his 30 points vaulted Nevada Roadrunners past the Stingrays on Monday night. Prior to that explosion Stingrays held a 56-43 lead and stood a chance of moving to 6-4 but unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be as they fall to 5-5, 1 game back of the division lead. You couldn’t ask for more from star receiver Roddy White who amassed 16 points but more support was needed if they were going to come out on top in this one.

Red Menace vs. Ragdolls

An extremely low scoring affair took place between Red Menace and Ragdolls that saw Red Menace come away with the slim victory 23-22. With the win Red Menace moves to 7-3 atop their division and Ragdolls moves back to pack at 5-5. No player on either side was able to reach double digits in points but Chris Johnson and DeSean Jackson getting to 9 each was enough for Red Menace to squeak away with this one. They probably should not bench Calvin Johnson though whose 10 points certainly would have helped. In a tough call Ragdolls benched Fred Jackson who came back to haunt his team scoring 16 points which was more than both Arian Foster and LeSean McCoy combined.

Boston Blazers vs. Road Dogs

Another 1 point game was played here that saw Boston Blazers come out on top 33-32 despite benching Jon Kitna for Carson Palmer. Road Dogs missed out on 8 crucial points at the kicker position as Josh Brown was left on the bench. It was a costly loss for the Road Dogs as they fell to 3-7 and seriously hurt their chances of winning the league. Boston Blazers moved to 6-4 and look to make a strong push heading into the playoffs.

Waveriders vs. Brooklyn Comets

Waveriders put forth a terrible effort this week only scoring 11 points and leaving 31 points on the bench. Playing Steve Johnson and Johnny Knox weren’t bad calls and it was more so a run of bad luck as Chad Ochocinco and Kevin Walter outscored them both. The Brooklyn Comets cruised to the win comfortably here as they scored 47 points. Big days from Mark Sanchez and Maurice Jones-Drew was more than enough to get their 5th win of the season and 2nd in a row. Waveriders still sits at 6-4 and is going to be a major player down the stretch run for the playoffs.
