NJ Hollywood Week 10 Report

By Colin Thompson

Baba Booey vs. The Situation
Who would have thought that having Tom Brady and his 35 points on your team would still not be enough to win last week? Well that was the case for The Situation as they lost 88-73 to Baba Booey which evened their records at 6-4. The Situation still sits atop the Black division and is very close to clinching a playoff birth. Baba Booey’s win moved them into a tie for second spot in the Red Division with Shoelace. The reason for their success last week was consistent play across the board from their team. Matt Schaub put forth one of his best efforts of the season scoring 23 points and Frank Gore continued to run wild as he amassed 20 points. Calvin “Megatron” Johnson was also on fire scoring 18 points which was more than all of The Situations receivers combined.

The Mudmonkies vs. The Beerlympians
After starting out 8-0 The Mudmonkies has now dropped 2 straight including a humbling 122-82 beatdown at the hands of The Beerlympians. Michael Vick’s jaw dropping performance (53 points) on Monday night powered them to the win even though they left Dwayne Bowe’s 30 points on the bench. For the Mudmonkies they got some nice production from Knowshon Moreno and Shaun Hill who had 21 and 16 points respectively but Cedric Benson continues to disappoint as he only scored 2. The Mudmonkies will still make the playoffs but they will want to turn it around and fast so that they don’t limp into the postseason. Meanwhile the Beerlympians have won 2 straight and are making a hard charge for the playoffs.

The Usual Suspects vs. 7.0
In a high scoring affair 7.0 defeated The Usual Suspects 105-89. It was the Jackson trio that enabled them to come away with the victory. Fred, Steven and DeSean scored 26, 20 and 15 points respectively which was more than enough to put away The Usual Suspects. Despite getting 31 points from Kyle Orton, The Usual Suspects were let down by poor play at the receiver position. Randy Moss and Reggie Wayne only combined for 5 points which just wasn’t going to cut it. 7.0 improved to 6-4, tied atop the Black Division and the Usual Suspects fell to 5-5 and will be in desperate need of a win in week 11.

Roger vs. Big City Boozers
Roger put forth a lackluster effort in their loss to Big City Boozers. Still leaving Dallas Clark in the starting lineup while he is out for the year with an injury doesn’t reflect too well on their team. 4 players were left on the bench who scored in double figures; it was an all around ugly outing. Big City Boozers didn’t need much help though as they had a spectacular week. Great call benching the anemic Brett Favre for Mark Sanchez and having two of the hottest receivers in the league in Mike Wallace and Brandon Lloyd certainly doesn’t hurt.

Albert is my Homeboy vs. Blade Runners
In a battle of two teams fighting for their playoff lives, Albert is my Homeboy defeated Blade Runners 95-80 to improve to 4-6 and keep their slim playoff hopes alive. The big difference in this one was Blade Runners deciding to sit Ben Roethlisberger who had 30 points in favor of Peyton Manning who only had 7. You can’t really blame them for that call but it’s unfortunate that they would have won had they done it. For Albert is my Homeboy, they got huge performances from David Garrard and Andre Johnson who had 26 and 20 points respectively.

Shoelace vs. Captain No Nads
In the highest scoring game of the week Captain No Nads defeated Shoelace 120-94. Everything was going right for Captain No Nads as they had big performances at each position. QB Matt Ryan finished with 27 points, RB Maurice Jones-Drew had 24 and WR Roddy White had 27. When you get performances like that it’s hard not to lose. They will need to rattle off a few more wins like that one in order to get back into the playoff race. Shoelace had the chance to move to 7-3 with a win and pretty much secure a playoff spot but just could not get it done. Their team performed admirably with 23 points from Eli Manning and 17 from Chris Johnson but it wasn’t meant to be. They fell to 6-4 but are still in good shape to make the playoffs.
