Championship Week: 1st and 10

After 15 weeks of play, we have reached the championship game of the 1st and 10 league.  The matchup features the Dynasty vs. the Witz.  Let’s take a look at how both teams got here and preview the championship matchup.

How They Got Here
The Dynasty rode three players to victory last week in Josh Freeman, Darren McFadden, and Jason Witten.  McFadden has quietly put together an excellent season and has emerged as a top-3 fantasy RB.  Despite the absence of Tony Romo, Jason Witten has still put together a very nice season and remains top fantasy TE.  The Witz rode the same player they’ve been riding all season, Michael Vick.  Vick looked like the Giants had finally stopped him on Sunday before exploding in the last eight minutes of the game.  There’s no reason to think Vick won’t do the same thing to a Vikings defense that has nothing to play for on Sunday.

The Matchup
It’s pretty simple: if the Vikings can stop Michael Vick on Sunday, the Dynasty will win the championship.  Despite a strong supporting cast of Chris Johnson, Arian Foster, Vincent Jackson, and Reggie Wayne, Vick is the key component of the team.  His consistent point totals are the reason the Witz have reached the championship game and he will be the reason if they win it or not.  The supporting cast will have to contribute, however, with Chris Johnson being the guy who has to step up and show why he was the number one fantasy player coming into the season.
For the Dynasty, they need a healthy Aaron Rodgers to come back and have a big game in a matchup with a very good Giants defense.  After an epic collapse to the Eagles last week, it will be interesting to see how the Giants come out this week, motivated or lazy.  I expect the Giants defense to come back motivated and going hard after Rodgers.  The backfield of Michael Turner and Darren McFadden must also have big games in order for the Dynasty to put up enough points in their matchup.

Prediction
I expect a high-scoring game with two explosive teams, but I see the Whiz winning because they have Michael Vick. I know it sounds simple, but Vick is just too dynamic to hold down and is too explosive to not score enough points.
