Key Week 12 Matchups
Stingrays defeated Lancaster Bombers
The Stingrays kept their division title hopes alive with a narrow 40-37 victory over the Lancaster Bombers. The bombers dropped to 6-6 and now sit third in the Halas division. They are not out of it but will need to probably win out to have a chance at the division crown. Jamaal Charles and his second half explosion was the difference maker in this matchup. Charles finished with 10 points which was more than the Bombers RBs combined.
Brooklyn Comets defeated Roosters
The Brooklyn comets moved to 7-5 and a share of first place in the Gibbs division after a 26-18 win in week 12. The Roosters fell to 7-5 and are now 1 game back in the Lombardi division. Both teams still have excellent shots at the postseason. The difference in this matchup was the play of Philip Rivers for the Roosters. Rivers uncharacteristically scored just 2 points which was not what they had in mind if they were going to beat the Comets.
Nevada Roadrunners defeated Red Menace
The Nevada Roadrunners jumped into first place in the Halas division with a crushing 55-18 win over the Red Menace from the Gibbs division. Dwayne Bowe was a monster yet again with 23 points and both Michael Vick and Rashard Mendenhall pitched in with 10. Red Menace remains tied atop the Gibbs division and in sight of a playoff spot but they will need to start getting double digit points from some of their players. Calvin Johnson was their highest scorer last week with just 8.
Pivotal Week 13 Matchups
Augusta Gnats (6-6) vs. Nevada Roadrunners (7-5)
First place in the Halas division is on the line in this contest between the Gnats and the Roadrunners. The Gnats have been blessed by some great QB play from their star Tom Brady but Matt Cassel has made a case for the starting job and just might get it this week. This decision will be a make or break one for the Gnats as they need to win to climb into a tie with the Roadrunners for top spot.
Lancaster Bombers (6-6) vs. Red Menace (7-5)
The Bombers need a win in the worst way this week if they hope to contend for the playoffs in the Halas division. The good news is 1st and 2nd in that division will be playing each other this week, so with a win the Bombers will gain some ground. The Red Menace is coming off a disappointing loss last week and needs to win to keep pace with the Brooklyn Comets who are tied with them at 7-5. The Bombers face another tough QB decision as Kyle Orton who has carried them for so long is currently on the bench in favor of Eli Manning. That is something to monitor this weekend as this matchup takes shape.
