Schoep’s League: Playoff Report

By Colin Thompson
Semi-Final Results
Raider Nation defeated Jokeland Haters
The number 1 seeded Raider Nation barely survived a furious battle with their rivals the Jokeland Haters 164.86-156.46. Vincent Jackson had his first monster game of the season catching 3 touchdown passes and accumulating 33.2 points in the win. As for the Jokeland Haters, they had some big performances as well from Devin Hester and Jacoby Ford who combined for 56.9 points and the Jets defense with 30.3 points certainly helped as well. However their loss can be attributed to the unfortunate injury of Knowshon Moreno who only finished with 0.6 points and did not finish the game.

Just Kaeding defeated Phil’s p-hoes
The second seed Just Kaeding was able to get by Phil’s p-hoes comfortably with a 159.18-133.54 win. Danny Amendola combined his receiving and return skills into 25.7 huge points and the Jacksonville defense pitched in with a team high 29.5. Phil’s p-hoes finally got a big day out of RB Cedric Benson who was able to get 25 points but a devastating injury to wide receiver Terrell Owens not only knocked him out for the rest of the season but it happened before he could earn any points for his team.

Finals Preview
Raider Nation vs. Just Kaeding
The two best teams all season long will meet in the finals to determine who is the premier team in Schoep’s League. Raider Nation comes in with three touchdown machines at running back in Arian Foster, Darren McFadden and Benjarvus Green-Ellis and a suddenly hot Vincent Jackson at wide receiver. They should get Aaron Rodgers back from a concussion this week so the decision will come down to starting either Kerry Collins or Joe Flacco. It’s tough to leave RBs LaGarrette Blount and Jonathan Stewart on the bench after they’ve been so good the last couple of weeks. For Just Kaeding they will be going the route of receiving/return man in hopes of winning the title. Triple threat Percy Harvin and Danny Amendola are both starting WRs but also primary kick returners so they will need to be on their game in all facets as they are not as strong at the traditional receiver position as their counterparts on Raider Nation. Their biggest decision will be whether to roll with TE Kellen Winslow or play the streaky Aaron Hernandez who is fresh off a two TD game.

Finals Predictions
Raider Nation defeats Just Kaeding – The best team all season long, Raider Nation, will show it again here as they take the Schoep’s league crown.
