Meet the Mutts vs. Sharktopus
How They Got Here: For Sharktopus, it was Michael Vick and Ray Rice. Literally. Those two combined for 77 points, while the opposition, Double Secret Probation, needed nine players to accumulate 85 points. The Jets defense was the only other double-digit scorer for Sharktopus, who coasted to 123-85 victory.
Meet the Mutts were nearly as good in the semifinal whipping of the TITANS, posting 121 points. They did it in a different manner than the top-heavy Sharktopus, though. Jason Witten led seven double-digit scorers with 20 points, and the K and D/ST combined for a very helpful 30 points.
Matchup: Steady Joe Flacco meets the Browns, which should amount to another 17-20 point performance out of the QB. Steven Jackson and Thomas Jones aren't the sexiest of fantasy backs, but they both have solid matchups and always a threat to score. Greg Jennings gets Aaron Rodgers back this week, which only boosts his already studly status, and Jason Witten is in store for another monster game against Arizona. The only weak spot could be Brandon Jackson, who faces a very tough New York Giants front seven.
The Michael Vick/DeSean Jackson combination has proven mighty potent this year for Sharktopus, and against the deflated Minnesota Vikings, it'll again account for close to 50 points. Ray Rice got untracked last, and figures to keep rolling against Cleveland, while Reggie Wayne won't be held down again, even if he faces Nnamdi Asomugha much of the afternoon. Marshawn Lynch has a very desirable matchup in the Buccaneers, and Randy McMichael has been decent in the absence of Antonio Gates. The only question mark is Peyton Hillis, who is reportedly dealing with a knee injury. LaDainian Tomlinson is the only alternative if the big fella can't go.
PREDICTION: Meet the Mutts -- I'm a fool for betting against the stud-laden Sharktopus, but it somehow seems appropriate that a Michael Vick-led squad would fall to team called Meet the Mutts.
