Melbot (82) vs. Ryan Grant, we hardly knew ye (78)
This is the kind of game that fantasy owners dread in the playoffs. When you lose by just four points, you look back at your lineup and see who you should have played that would have made up the four point difference. In Ryan Grant’s case, he is probably upset he sat Steven Jackson or Mike Goodson in favor of LaGarette Blount, who scored just five points last week. However, you can’t dwell on the past and it’s always good to stick with the lineup that got you to the playoffs, as long as the matchup is right. For Melbot, they should be thankful that the Texans decided they should just throw the ball against the Ravens, which allowed Andre Johnson to score 26 points and somehow bring them back from a 22-point deficit going into Monday night’s game. Of course, they are also very happy they had the highest waiver priority when Michael Vick was on the waiver wire. Vick yet again had a big week, scoring 22 points and remaining the most consistent fantasy football player.
Elfboys (63) vs. Men without Helmets (65)
Similar to what I said above, Elfboy’s must be kicking themselves for not starting Ryan Mathews over Marion Barber, who didn’t play this week due to injury. Those points would have allowed them to be in the semi-finals, but instead they were knocked out of the playoffs. Men without Helmets should be thrilled that Brandon Jacobs is finally running like the guy we saw two years ago when he was a beast and impossible to tackle on the first attempt. However, in order to win next week, they have to get more point production from guys like Percy Harvin and Roy Williams.
Semi-Final Previews
Melbot vs. Champion Dwarf Tossers
For Melbot to win, they must get another big game from Michael Vick. Vick has been carrying fantasy teams all year but has a difficult matchup against a Giants team that did a pretty good job containing him last game. However, he still put up nice fantasy numbers. For Champion Dwarf Tossers, both Ray Rice and Miles Austin need to be productive or they could really struggle to score points. I’m going with the upset here and picking Melbot.
Men without Helmets vs. Eric vs. Hank
Men without Helmets are in for a big test against Eric vs. Hank and their potentially high-scoring offense. With MJD, Darren McFadden, Philip Rivers, and Greg Jennings, the potential for a lot of points is there and all of those players are in must-win situations this week. Unfortunately for Men without Helmets, I just don’t see them scoring enough points to win.
