Barons (7-2, Mendota) vs. Hitters (5-4, Langdon)
Just a blip on the radar for the Ruling Barons, falling short 76-59 to Hitters due to a triple-doughnut from The Law Firm, Megatron and Donald Lee. None of this could have be foreseen, with the Lawfirm streaking, Megatron balling and any Aaron Rodger target a candidate for a score. However, can’t count on the kicker to lead your team in points; look for a rebound in Week 10. Hitters, however, was able to creep to a half-game back in the Langdon division with the win, due mostly to an outstanding performance by T.O. on Monday night in thrilling fashion. His 28 points led the team, with 15 apiece from Wacko for Flacco and Dez Bryant. Despite his fair share of zeros from LeGarrette Blount, Andre the Giant, Jason Witten and Steve Breaston, it’s impressive to get the W; don’t expect similar letdowns going forward.
OurGang (3-6, Mendota) vs. Fracram (2-7, Bascom)
In a battle for nothing more than sympathy, two Toilet Bowl contenders faced off, with Fracram earning his second win on the season. Four doughnuts, two of which you could have seen from a mile away, could not hold back the futile offense that is Fracram, as Michael Vick’s return to Philly and James Jones’ breakout party were too much. For OurGang, an heavy load was placed on Arian Foster to carry the team, as he and Mike Wallace were the only players who made a difference. See you guys again…in the Toilet Bowl.
Terrapins (4-4-1, Bascom) vs. MSBEsq (5-3-1, Langdon)
A tough week for the Terps, in reality and fantasy. I guess a tie is better than a loss to Miami, as it keeps the Terrains 1.5 games back in the division, and a preserves a slight lead for MSBEsq in first place in his own. Who would have thought Ryan Fitzpatrick would go tit-for-tat with Peyton Manning? Or that Mike Tolbert would outdo Queen Felix? Heck, Seyi Ajirotutu put up more points than Gonzo, Wes Welker, Dwayne Bowe, Brent Celek and Robert Meachem combined. It was just one of those matchups I guess.
Slac (6-3, Bascom) vs. ThreeJakes (6-3, Mendota)
A sixth win on the season for the ThreeJakes can be solely credited to Philip Rivers, who continues to somehow play better than anybody else in the entire league. Doughnuts from Dustin “the wind” Keller, Mario Manningham and Pierre Garcon were picked up by Rivers’ 32 points. Being just a game back, it is hard to make any rash decisions, but I think Visanthe Shiancoe has got crack this lineup, as he will product when Brett Favre does. For Slackers, the loss does not hurt because your closest competitors either lost or tied. With the majority of your better options off on byes, you were stuck going with Danny Woodhead and Kevin Smith; expect a rebound Week 10.
PineApple (4-5, Langdon) vs. KiddMiller (5-4, Bascom)
Although sitting at the bottom of the Landon Division, PineApple’s win Sunday positions him just 1.5 games back of first place, and the performance can only get better from this point on. Matt Schaub cannot be stumped like this going forward – one point is completely uncharacteristic. Ahmad Bradshaw, the Burner, Greg Jennings, Run DMC and yes, even Steve Johnson, are all rolling. If Schaub continues to falter, get Kyle Orton in there ASAP. For Kidd Miller, I would not ditch Matty Ice because of this performance; but I may go as far as to recommend Braylon Edwards and Percy Harvin over Patrick Crayton and Austin Collie – both have been out-producing them.
Fluffhead (2-7, Mendota) vs. Killers (4-5, Langdon)
In the closest matchup of the week, Corey Kotlierre’s Killers impressively beat the two-win team that is Fluffhead by an outstanding five points. Usually, when Jacob Tamme is providing your highest point total it spells trouble. The talent is there – Jahvid Best, Randy and Santana Moss, Malcolm Floyd. You just need to hope they get healthy and going sooner than later. For Fluffhead, trying to play the spoiler role with Rashard Mendenhall, A-Rodge and Mike Williams, I wish you luck. If you’re season did not go the way you wanted, it is best to ruin the others’.
