Parity Reins Supreme in Czyk’s Revenge
With eight teams separated by 1 game, and only six available spots, the final week of the season is going to be a wild ride. Here's what we know for sure: BearNaked Ladies and chumps have officially been uninvited to the playoff party. Technically, BearNaked could get to 6-7, which might be a good enough record to make it in, but with only 847 points he'd need a miracle to make up the necessary ground. Other than that, not much is settled. Eric vs. Hank hold the top spot by virtue of their 7-5 record and 1,007 points scored, but there are three teams sitting at 6-6 with a higher total, so their hold is precarious, to say the least. Let's take a look at the implications of what promises to be a wild final week.
Eric/Hank (7-5) vs. Ryan Grant (6-6)
-The biggest matchup of the week, hands down. The Ryan Grant-less Ryan Grant's lead the league in scoring with 1078, so a victory over Eric/Hank would almost guarantee one of the top two spots and a coveted first round bye. Unless something outrageously unfortunate happens, Eric vs Hank will be in the postseason win or lose.
ForeSkins (6-6) vs. chumps (4-8)
-The ForeSkins get the perfect remedy to stop the bleeding in the chumps, who haven't won since the Reagan administration (or more accurately, Week 6). ForeSkins have scored the second most points, so a loss wouldn't completely eliminate them, but it's best not to leave it up to chance, and they shouldn't against the league’s worst team.
Melbot (6-6) vs. LastPlace (6-6)
-This one is real interesting, as Melbot sits at 6-6, but are in 7th place and trail the 6th place team by 102 points. That team is this week's opponent, LastPlace. A loss definitely eliminates Melbot, and almost assuredly LastPlace as well. Since 100 points or more will be impossible to gain in the span of one week, Melbot needs a win and an Elfboys loss to secure their place in the postseason.
CHAMPION DWARF TOSSER (7-5) vs. BearNaked Ladies (5-7)
-As I said, BearNaked is all but eliminated, but CDT's future very much hangs in the balance. They sit somewhat comfortably in the coveted #2 spot currently, but are 5th in overall points, so a low-point producing loss could see them on the outside looking in. It's unlikely, but anything is possible in the crazy game of fantasy football.
Men with Helmets (7-5) vs. Elfboys (6-6)
-The good news for Men with Helmets is that they're 7-5 and enter the week in 3rd place. The bad news is, they've only accumulated 901 points, the eighth lowest total in a 10 team league. That's not good, especially if they lose to the desperate Elfboys. Win and they're fine, but lose, and it's likely lights out. Elfboys needs a win and some help -- their 917 points aren't something to brag about either.
